Letter From Ruth Barnes
Dear Church Family and Friends,
Time is drawing near for our annual Feast of Tabernacles. It is earlier this year and we will be celebrating two weekends, September 5-8 and September 12-15. The second weekend will be our main Feast events. You are all welcome to camp on the grounds. Bring your own supplies, as we will not be having any meal preparations available [besides the meals that are scheduled as events]. Bring tents, lawn chairs, flashlights, and plenty of blankets for cold nights.
John Barnes is having a work day every Saturday at the church. He needs many willing workers to get things ready inside and outside. Men, women, and teens are needed and welcomed. Pastor has a list of things to be done. [The] date for setting up the main tabernacle tent will be announced soon. Many [able-bodied, strong individuals] will be needed for set-up as this is a major job that requires a lot of hands on.
Many supplies will need to be purchased for our Feast. Church finances are very tight. We need to be in prayer as to what God would have each of us give. Any [monetary] donations should be marked "Feast" and put in the offering or mailed to the church. A jar marked "Feast" will [also be available] in the foyer for your convenience.
The second weekend (September 12-15) [will involve the following]:
FRIDAY NIGHT: Pot Luck Soup [aka Mulligan Stew/Hobo Soup]. What to Bring
SATURDAY (noon): Chicken BBQ Dinner. Prices: $15 per family/$5 per person. What to Bring
SUNDAY (after service): Dish-to-pass Dinner. What to Bring
The snack bar will be selling burgers, hot dogs, breakfast items, candy, drinks, etc. [It] will be open daily.
I hope you all are as excited as I am about The Feast! We need to reach out to our teens, families who no longer come, and to the lost & hurting people in our communities. We have a great opportunity to invite people to hear the message of salvation, to join in the fun and celebration, and to rejoice in our feasts as God's Word tells us to do. Feel free to call me [about] anything you would like to do to help during The Feast.
